From the manga and anime Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro, we have the title character and his gal pal Nekomusume (literally "Catgirl"). Early on it's obvious that Nekomusume has a crush on Kitaro, she often becomes jealous of other girls (humans and other yokai) who seem to be more attractive than herself around Kitaro, and becomes happy when Kitaro's father says she'd make a good daughter-in-law. Since Nekomusume and Kitaro are roughly the same age (whatever age they are), it's really a cute and charming pairing. Unfortunately for the little catgirl, Kitaro sees her only as a friend. Not that that stops Nekomusume from envisioning Kitaro as a handsome knight/prince on a white horse.
