Kimba the White Lion

Debuted in the early days of anime. It focuses on the story of Kimba, a rare white lion cub who succeeds his father as king of an unnamed African jungle after his father was killed by a vengeful hunter. Kimba normally faces conflict in the form of the lion Claw, who only sees being king as turning Kimba's father's jungle into his personal hunting grounds and judgment by other lions who look down on Kimba due to his white fur. It was later made into a spin-off series called Leo the Lion and focused a bit on Kimba's children. The Kimba series was remade in 1999 and had a more serious storyline
