The second Miyazaki film I ever saw. It follows the adventure of a young girl named Chihiro whose parents are cursed after eating food meant for yokai and other spirits when the family unknowingly enters the Spirit World. Chihiro has no choice but to work in the bathhouse of an ugly old witch named Yubaba in order to find a way to rescue her parents and change them back. Along the way she is aided by a young boy named Haku, whom the weasel girl Lin says is Yubaba's trusted henchman. Chihiro is also pursued by the mysterious spirit known simply as a "No-Face" that seen becomes a danger to the entire bathhouse due to feeding off all the negativity there. The movie takes its time for Chihiro to develop as a character, going from a crybaby to a girl willing to risk herself to protect others and confront her own fears. I love this movie for how charming, mysterious, cultural, and well thought out it is.
