This horrendous nightmare is a Nuckelavee, a ghastly Scottish spirit of drought and sickness. He often lives in the sea where eyes do not have to look upon his skinless body every hour of everyday. The nuckelavee cannot cross a running stream, allowing his potential victims to escape if a stream is nearby.
